Recommend me something raw and local — Manchester indie, no stadium bands

I've worn out my usual playlist and want to find the stuff that only plays in 200-cap rooms. Who should I be following on here? Bonus points for anything with a saxophone.

Alex Rivers' new single — is the B-side better than the lead track?

Two listens in and I'm convinced the B-side is the real song. The production on the lead single feels a bit glossy compared to the live versions. Discuss.

What actually makes a small venue sound good?

Been to three gigs this month with wildly different sound. Same genre, same size rooms, totally different experience. Is it the room, the engineer, or the PA? Curious what people who play these rooms think.

First time seeing Echo Park live — the whole room went quiet for the encore

Caught them at a tiny 120-cap room last night. No support act, no screens, just the band and a room that knew every word. The encore was completely unplugged and you could hear a pin drop. Anyone else catch this run? I'd go again tomorrow.
